Is it possible to teach myself about Architecture online & then take an exam to qualify me?
Or could I draw up my own plans for development and then get them signed off by an Architect? I am skilled in using Landscape Garden Design software but frequently have to draw up either existing buildings or make up my own designs for artistic impressions. However, I would love to be able to build some of my creations - buying land & building on it, but concerned about Health & Safety issues as well as technical issues. Any comments/suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

- well, that could work. but if you're seriously considering doing architecture as apart of your job, i would set some time out and take a few classes on the course. it makes you look more qualified if you're going to work for a business in that area. if you're planning to have your business, i say go right ahead and teach yourself. :)
- Yes. My ex-husband designed a 2 story victorian style house without an architect, and was able to get the building commission to give him a permit by submitting detailed drawings and information about the electrical, plumbing, and sewage plans.
