Aesthetics- city of Berlin?
I am planning on moving to Berlin. To prepare, I have watched travel videos and looked at pictures of Berlin. However, the city does not look pretty to me. I know and understand the history (post WWII bombings, etc), but the city just still looks so ugly, despite the new modern architecture, which I also find ugly. Can anyone tell me if this city is, indeed ugly, and if so, what is enjoyable about the city? Also, could anyone recommend a really beautiful neighborhood to me in Berlin? (I was thinking of living in Prenzlauerberg). Are there any streets or niches you know of that are beautiful? (My income isnt very high, so it cant be super expensive). Thanks

- Well Berlin suffered in WW II and the eastern half suffered under the communist regime unlike in the West of Germany the East did not have any money to spend and also they did care less about rebuilding historical buildings. To me Berlin is not very beautiful and I can not understand some one calling this city nice neither in Germany there are a lot of cities which are by far nicer and neither in Europe where Berlin will never match Paris Prague London or Moscow. But that is personal taste. If you want to move there have a look at the districts of former West Berlin like Wannsee Charlottenburg Wilmersdorf unfortunately these are not the nicest of Berlin but also the most expensive ones. Or have a look at the city of Potsdam capital of Brandenburg not really far from Berlin. BTW to move to Germany be aware you will need a resident permit and work visa unless you are EU citizen
