how much Roman and/or Greek architecture can be found still in Persia ? (modern day Iran)?

and how similar is the Persian architecture of even the "Zorostrian"? priests to that of Roman architecture? how much trade and communication did Italy or Babylon, Judea (btw what was area of "Babylon" called by Romans?) have with Persia? since how long? and how many wars between them? with which outcomes? thanks for answers!

  1. Well, since the Greeks did not get to stay in Persia for long because of the Parthians that ousted them, there are no significant remains of Greek architecture. As far as Roman architecture goes, the only example that can be found is a palace built by roman prisoners of war. The Persians usually won their wars with Rome especially during the Sassanid dynasty. There were many significant wars between Rome and Persia.
  2. Persian architecture in the main developed quite separately from Roman and Greek styles. Before the advent of Islam which fundmentally affected architectural styles, the main periosds were the Parsian style (Achaemenid, Median, Elamite eras) and the Parthian style (Parthian, Sassanid eras). For which Google. Lots of trade betwwn Italy and Arabic and Farsi worlds (and beyond) - the Silk Route for examples. Many products we associate with modern Italy (eg Pasta and ice Cream) are Arabic in origin.
