Would you need a bachelors degree in philosophy in order to go get into a graduate school for philosophy?

I'm currently a senior in an undergraduate landscape architecture program. I having doubts about my future career in this program. I was wondering if most schools offer a graduate program that offers both a bachelors and masters degree in philosophy regardless of your undergraduate degree.

Public Comments

  1. And you think there will be better job opportunities in philosophy?
  2. Not that I know of. As long as you fill the requirements for the Graduate program, you should be fine. The university Grad site should have the requirements listed in the Philosophy degree area. I'm currently a Anthropology major taking classes for medical Grad and it's working out fine.
  3. I hope you realize that not even people with a PhD in philosophy can get a job related to their degree. All a bachelors degree in philosophy can get you is admission to law school. With your landscape architecture degree, you will make more money if you start a landscaping business than a person with a PhD in philosophy will make. Consider instead a masters degree in Technology Management. My daughter took that and got offers in the $80,000 a year range. She went for her PhD in engineering instead.
