What do you think about double Bachelor degrees?
I want to become a landscape architect. There's a course where I can obtain a Bachelor of Arts in Landscape with a Bachelor of Environmental Science. The course goes for 4 years, if I only decided to study only the landscape architecture part it would go for three years. What are your thoughts? Do you think the double degree is worthwhile?

- My daughter did a double major and she found it opened up so many more doors. She did a double major in Economics and Political Science with a minor in History. She also qualified as an Emergency Medical Technician. She got a great fellowship, is in grad school with a near full ride and has 6 offers of fully paid PhDs on the table. And a job offer with a top consulting firm waiting for her whenever she gets tired of going to school. About 1/3 of her graduating class did a double major. However she had to take 9 credits in each of two summers to get all her courses and still graduate in 4 years. She says it only took about 20% more hard work. She finished with 136 credits compared to the 120 needed for a single major. Double majors are the bachelor’s degree of the 21st Century. The one field where I suggest NOT double majoring is Engineering. This is one of the hardest majors and unless you plan to spend 6 years doing a double major you are not going to do well on either major. And if you take 6 years you are better off getting the engineering degree and a masters.
