What kind of jobs would a degree in Architecture Studies give you?
This is what our school website says about the degree: "The Bachelor of Science in Architectural Studies (ARSTBS) incorporates coursework from the School of Architecture with liberal arts studies for students with interests in related fields that may not require the five-year accredited degree. This degree could lead to careers in journalism, planning and non-profit organizations. It also provides a good groundwork for graduate study in architecture and allied disciplines such as architectural history, historic preservation, urban planning or construction management." What is the likelihood or reality that I could get one of these jobs?

- I hate to be negative about this, but you are seeking real opinions...so here it goes. I have a bachelors and a masters degree in Architecture and I have seen how difficult it is for architects to find work. The large majority of my class-mates went on to do other things- as did I. I can only assume that this program will result in even fewer real job opportunities since you won't really have the background to pursue architectural jobs and the other types of careers mentioned in the school description are even more difficult to find. There certainly are some jobs that are probably really interesting in urban planning and historic preservation, but think about the very small number of companies or government agencies that are doing this kind of work. The numbers are going to be tough, and that's the reality- but if it's your passion..you should pursue it. Good luck to you.
