What are some famous buildings with unusual architectural designs?

This is for an essay I'm writing. I never took architecture and I'm not taking AP Art History or any similar classes, so don't bother going into too much terminology because I probably won't understand it. It doesn't have to be anything specific, just something in the big picture that makes the building look unusual. The more famous the building is, the better! It can date from any time period, ancient history to modern-day. Thanks!!
