I'm currently in grade 12 (about halfway done 1st semester) and hopefully going to college/university next year. I've always been interested in the arts, specifically drawing characters/landscapes, and I was thinking of becoming a game designer because I love technology as well, and thinking about how amazing technology will be 20 years from now and being able to work with it seems exciting. But recently I have been thinking about architecture as a career because I think it would be more fulfilling and I like the thought of taking an idea from my own head and turning it into something real (as apposed to a video games false sense of reality) that people can actually walk through and experience. On another note, saying "I'm an architect" just sounds good :). The problem is I haven't really ever been that interesting/involved in designing structures and I don't really know what makes a structure look appealing - they just do (look appealing). I've been researching architecture (and civil engineering) a lot the past couple days and I'm not sure I possess the ability to design buildings specifically. I know in architecture school I would learn about technical aspects and efficient building layouts and stuff like that, but is simply having artistic skill/background enough? am I cut out for this? Are there any professionals or students currently in an architecture program that can give me a taste of what you learn? like architecture design theory or something? what sorts of courses are there? because currently I don't have any clues on how to make a building look nice. Thanks, Jay
