Best software for Architecture renderings?

Third year architecture student, and sort of wondering what are the necessary software programs (any and all) that are currently being demanded in the professional field. As of now, I am familiar with Ecotech, autoCAD, revit, rhino, adobe and its components. However, I feel like I am missing a good rendering or BIM software, any suggestions for the best and most widely demanded program? I have a Mac and PC, so compatibility isn't an issue. Hope to be getting answers from Architect professions, prolific in the CAD technology. Thank you!

  1. Surely 3ds max is the standard rendering programming for architecture.
  2. You already know Autocad .... that you need to accurately export your polylines to 3ds MAX .. yes ...in my 10 years of experience in Architectural Renderings .. I think 3ds MAx is what you need to learn. Then install the VRAY rendering plugin and do your rendering with that engine ..... you will get amazing results. You only need to concentrate on what you need to learn for architectural visualisation .... so you don't need to learn 3ds MAX completely.....plus VRAY is very popular because of its simplicity. Good Luck!
  3. i learned Autodesk Architectural Desktop 2004 in school, in short ADT, it is like autoCAD but has added 3D blocks. it is pretty complicated though. i taught myself sketchup7 from the internet (youtube) you can download it at google sketchup it is free. and very easy. 3dmax seems to be a good program too, i am not familiar with it but i see ads that want people that know that...
