What really is the difference between Architecture and Interior Architecture?

I have been interested in architecture for quite a while now, both interior and exterior. As mentioned above, what really is the difference? A University I'm interested in has programs in Architecture and Interior Architecture, and it grants a Bachelors of Architecture for both. Does this mean I can be an Architect from both programs, but each program just specializes differently? Apart from this, the university also offers another program called Interior Design, but it grants its graduates a Bachelors of Fine and Applied Arts. So I'm a bit confused... Any help is appreciated, :)

  1. I think the first one is more broad and the others just interior....
  2. Architecture and interior architecture are usually separate fields but there's often an overlap between the two. Architecture mostly deals with the exterior design of a building with more focus on engineering and structural support etc. interior architecture deals with laying out interiors, for ex. placement of kitchen counters and tubs. You have to learn drafting and the building code for both. In my uni, interior architecture is called interior design and we have a separate program called interior decorating which deals with paints and furniture. I'm assuming the interior design program of the uni you mentioned is equivalent to interior decorating. It all really depends, since course content differs from university to university. So my best advice is to ask the university directly. Hope that helps!
