Where are the best places in London to take photos of contrasting Architecture?

I'm currently doing a little project and my theme is 'contrasts', one of my ideas is to take pics of contrasting architecture...for example, modern vs traditional buildings in London. I was wondering whether anyone could tell me some great spots to take photos of some modern architecture and traditional architecture or any names of buildings... Thank you :-)

  1. Well London is beautiful place, just be careful with rioters
  2. I'd take a boat ride down the Thames then you'd get to see lots of different types of buildings together
  3. Anywhere in the City
  4. Open House is unique in that you see, hear and talk about great architecture and design at first hand. Whether it’s a renewed look at your own neighbourhood or exploration of a new area, our open buildings and expert-led tours will affect how you feel about your city and the way we live. Have a look at the Barking Central, Woolwich, and Dalston Regeneration walks to see how whole quarters are being transformed. Other events such as the Children’s City, a Meanwhile London project, encourage communities to consider their corner of London a more liveable place.
  5. Perhaps a picture of the Tower of London with the Gherkin in the background
  6. I had to this project for art! I painted The Gherkin and a few other buildings in London contrasting with a beach but... I think you could do modern vs old. London is filled with so many old historical buildings such as the Houses of Parliament, Tower Bridge and just so many buildings just going into the centre of London you see how old so many of the buildings are but then there are now so many new modern buildings such as Canary Wharf, The Gherkin or they are now building the Shard which will be the tallest of building in London but it's not done yet again these are easy to spot as they stand out more because they are usually made with glass and such. You also hav
  7. I have a great picture for you. Its of a 12th century, stone building which has been tied in with a modern builing to help support it i think. I have posted a link for street view but it doesnt do it justice. Also the scaffolding that is on street view is no longer there as i was there on sunday and saw it myself. Its down Clink street near the famouse Clink prison (now a museum) in Southwark.
  8. Try the top of Nelsons Column.
  9. London has much contrasting architecture - this is most noticeable in the City of London (The Square Mile) where there are old as well as new buildings. Further to the West, in Westminster and the Westend, most of the architecture is quite old, some of it, esp Wesminster Abbey, is very old.
