How did rome's landscape effect ancient roman architecture?
I'm doing a project on ancient Roman architecture in my world history class and want to cover all the basics.

- Look into the ways landscapes of today have formed architecture. Looks at a rural area, or a high density area such as Manhattan. Architecture moulds to fit it's landscape. Looking at Palatine Hill, take into context its surroundings. Is there water, mountains, hills, valleys, fields? What is its elevation like? Is it steep? Does it cut off at a point? Think of how these factors could effect the architecture in ancient Rome. Consider their forms of architecture in ways such as their invention of concrete. How did this change their architecture? Does this change the way structures could be built? Were they of limited space in a landscape like Manhattan, therefore resulting in building up instead of out? Just trying to trigger some thought. Skim through some books on ancient Roman architecture, there are plenty to choose from.
