I am an artist (painter mostly) who loves architecture. Are there jobs for artists w/architects?

I am a painter mostly, but would be willing to learn a creative trade (e.g. tile making, art / window screens, and the like) to be able to work with architects - preferrably on large projects that in some way allow for the highlight or showcase of the less "architectural", more artistic pieces. (FYI: I would prefer posting this in Arts & Humanities, as well as Home & Garden but Y!Q does not allow!)

  1. You can try and get a job as an interior designer. A friend of mine is a painter and his job is to paint scenes (jungle, mountain, racecar, etc) on people's walls.
  2. what about doing the photos of "this is what it will look like when we're done building"...like models, but in drawings/paintings...
  3. I consider myself as an artists/crafter, with 3 degrees that are completely unrelated (international relations, trade & law, public administration). But have been around interior design and property ownership and management since childhood. My husband has his degrees in architecture and interior design. You would be a perfect person to hook up with interior designers in your area who could hire you as an independent contractor for various projects. First of all, if you are a good painter, you are in demand! I've fired more incompetent painters than any other trades person. If you are able to master faux finishing, murals, company logos, large scale stenciling, etc., you will have more work than you can imagine. Moreover, if you can add another skill like restoration or wood refinishing, there is a real market for you. I love architecture, too, but I know of few who hire artists. I think you will find more success with interior designers because we have a hard time finding experts in painting.
  4. YES here in Florida people paint pictures on there walls! animals, beach pictures, one man has a ships controll cabin painted on his wall .
  5. The problem is that all architects are artists. They employ draftsmen too and they are usually artists as well. When an architect designs a building they start odd with their concept of the project n that they have sketched out on paper right? Sorry to be a bummer. Hey become an architect. 6 years. 4 years BFA and the 2 year master of Architecture
