what kind of architecture is the us capitol building an example of?

in my world history class, we're learning about the renaissance and reformation so i wondered about this.

  1. 19th century neoclassical architecture. It has designs used by the Greeks and Romans. The Greeks and Romans had a pretty big effect on the way our government was set up, so the design of the Capitol Building is kind of like our tribute to them. They were the earliest civilizations to have democratic republics with elected officials who represented the people in legislative bodies, like the Roman Senate, for example.
