What is your Favourite Building Architecture?and why?

1. oprah at sidney ... no need for explanation
2. The Sagrada Familia , The Church of the Holy Family, Barcelona, Spain, which was begun in 1882 and is still being worked on. Why is it my favourite? Probably, because its design is an amazing jumble of forms and motifs. Gaudi brought together here Eastern and Western decorative elements, distorting and moulding the facades of this "wedding cake" to create the most fantastically bizarre structure in the world. Where else would one find a church where butterflies and snails,turtles and monsters are crawling all over it. Today, architects take every detail of the setting into account before they plan a building - is it suitable for area? What type of materials will give correct ventilation? And so on, and so on. Gaudi, didn't give a damn. And I admire both his guts and this amazing building. Who cares if it has taken more than 100 years to complete. Its fabulous!
