- Sounds like a smart way to start in. Being a building inspector and knowing the building codes is a real plus to getting a good start and a good job in the building industry. But, full fledgedArchitects usually require a degree in Civil/Structural Engineering first. The Architectural degree is a Masters, or fifth year degree.
- I would not go with the building inspectors degree. First most likly the assoicates degree doesn't transfer to any degree in Architecture. Second A bachlors degree in Architecture or B-ARCH takes five years depending on where you go for college. the next type of degree in architecture is the Masters in Architecture or M-Arch which requires a bachlors degree. so either way you would need atleast a bachlors degree to get into any type of architecture program. your best bet is to apply to a 5 year bachlors degree architecture program.
