- i would say Romanesque because the arches are round
- Yes, I have to say that artist license may be at play here by Antonello da Messina, being that the picture was painted around 1460-1475. St. Jerome lived (ca. 347 – September 30, 420) is best known as the translator of the Bible from Greek and Hebrew into Latin. He also was a Christian apologist. Jerome's edition of the Bible, the Vulgate, is still an important text of the Roman Catholic Church. It is not consistent with Renaissance architecture and more consistent with Romanesque, however the Romanesque period wasn't until the 10th Century.
