Job Promotion / Transfer?
I work for an architecture and interior design firm. I currently support these two departments, but would like to work with the interior designers. MY QUESTION IS: What is the best way to ask to change departments? I am taking a class in interior design. I would like to take what I've learned and apply it to a new position, perhaps as an Office Manager that orders all the supplies and creates the design boards for various projects. I am hoping to save our deisgners a considerable amount of time because I understand the amount of time it takes to order prep and assemble a design board.

- Talk to the manager of the Interior Design department. Let him / her know of your wish. Ask him / her for their suggestion on the best way to proceed. Also ask about which classes would be best for what you want to do? In this way the manager knows what you want and everyone likes to be asked for advice. Good Luck!
