Landscape Architects--how much do they make? Is this a job with value to society?
How much does the avg. landscape architect make? I am trying to pick between this and Vet School. I want to start taking classes by fall 2007. I am in the admissions process of Landscape Architecture, but I am still not exactly sure this is what I want to do.....!!!! I want a professional career, and Landscape Architect seems to fit everything I want. I guess it is just hard to see into the future.....

- You can make about $120,000 or more a year if you live in CA, not sure about other states. Take classes in Auto Cad and photo-shop, it will be a value to you when you get into the profession. Two reasons: 1. Having experience in auto-cad will allow you to visualized your ideas before you start your project. It will allow you to test and try ideas. 2. Knowing how to use auto-cad will be useful to you when you apply for an internship for a local landscaping company. Landscaping is a good trade. Too many people are getting into Law, Medicine, Computer, and so on. Buy the law of supply and demand, your service will pay a lot more then the professions listed above. Again, on average, you can make 120,000 a year if you're working on a commercial level.
- Search salary.com. This website will give you both salaries for architects and veterinarians in your area as well as anywhere in the US. It will also give you job descriptions. It's a great site. You can also research other professions. You should also check with the counselors at your school or college. Good luck in your future endeavors.
