are there many jobs for landscape architects?

i think im going to study landscape architecture in college mabye at philadelphia u. is this a good idea? are there many job opportunities for me after college or should i study something else?

  1. You should check it out on Salary.com. You can search for the occupation by geographic location and it also gives you an outlook on the profession (i.e. is it growing/declining, etc.)
  2. As a 20 year practitioner in San Diego, landscape architecture is a rewarding profession. Just don't expect to make a lot of money right away. A good LA is a jack-of-all-trades master of none. My classmates work for municipalities, park & rec depatments, teach at universities, are comercial/residentail developers and like me work for design firms. There are a lot of opportunities in growth markets like Texas/Colorado, Pac. Northwest and California and Arizona Lots of job opportunities in both public sector and private practice.
