Architecture Portfolio for College! HELP QUICK, HOW SHOULD I ORGANIZE IT??
I need to make an Architecture portfolio at USC, and it must be postmarked by Wednesday. I have all the pictures, drawings, and models photographed, scanned, or otherwise digitalized. However organizing the portfolio is something I'm not sure about. How should i organize it? Should I include a table of contents? Should I keep all the pictures portrait, even though some pictures are shrunk when they are naturally landscape? Should I use two sides, or just one side of the paper? Any other suggestions?

- You should always start and end a portfolio with your strongest work. That way the work that might not be your strongest doesn't get as much attention. Most likely they will pay more attention at the beginning and the end of your portfolio, and so will an employer because they might not have enough time depending on the actual size your portfolio is. I know the purpose of a portfolio is to showcase your "best" work, but I also know that many times there are specific requirements from your professors or whomever that say you have to have a certain material included. I would try to position everything going one direction so that the person looking at it won't have to keep rotating it. This could get annoying for them. Some pages might have to be the other direction, but limit it to approx. 90% one direction and 10% the other if possible. I would only use one side because you risk the ink showing on the other side and also you want each print, page, picture to stand out and not look like you were trying to skimp and save on money by using less paper. I would do a table of contents only if you plan on dividing them into specific sections, which isn't a bad idea depending on what type of architecture is in the portfolio (residential, commercial...ect). Make sure you have a nice cover, front and back. Have it professionally printed and bound (Kinko’s). Of course these are all just suggestions. If I knew more specifics it would be easier. Good luck with everything!
