can anyone give infos on vegetation growing on heritage ruins?

i am a landscape architecture student in university of the philippines (masters degree) currently working on a case study on plants that grow on the heritage ruins itself. i am to identify plants that are destructive to the ruins and at the same time identify plants that are recommendable or are encouraged to grow on such ruins. i am also researching on ways how to remove plants that are destructive to the ruins. and finally, why are they considered destructive or recommendable.
